چکیده
In hydraulic components, nonlinearities are responsible for critical behaviors that make it difficult to realize a reliable mathematical model numerical simulation. With particular reference spool valves, the viscous friction coefficient between sliding and fixed body is an unknown parameter normally set posteriori in order obtain good agreement with experimental data. this paper, two different methodologies characterize experimentally component presented. The approaches significantly both based on tests; they were developed distinct laboratories periods of time applied same flow compensator pump displacement control. One procedures was carried out at Fluid Power Research Laboratory Politecnico di Torino, while other approach University Parma. Both proposed methods reached similar outcomes; moreover, neither method requires installation transducer can affect results.

Cavitation Inception in Spool Valves
Cavitation has been investigated in directional control valves in order to identify damage mechanisms characteristic of components o f aircraft hydraulic systems. Tests have been conducted in a representative metal spool valve and in a model three times larger. Data taken under noncavitating conditions with both valves showed that the position of the high-velocity annular jet shifts orientation...
متن کاملExperimental Investigation of Friction Coefficient in Ribleted Pipes and the Effect of Fine Particles
The effect of fine particles on turbulence damping and reduction of flow friction coefficient in ribleted pipes, have been investigated experimentally. Tests have been conducted in a ribleted pipe with hydraulic diameter of 18.6 mm, and 20 stream wise riblets of 1.8 mm depth, along the pipe. Flows of water tap with Reynolds number from 5000 to 30000 were compared with flows containing silt-clay...
متن کاملPerformance and Behavior of Seals for Pneumatic Spool Valves
This article presents a seal development approach that takes actual operating conditions (mounting, sealed pressure, lubricating conditions), seal material, and counterpart machining tolerances into account. The approach was applied to the design of seals for a commercial pneumatic spool valve. A single seal geometry and two seat configurations were specified on the basis of finite element anal...
متن کاملFlow-Force Analysis in a Hydraulic Sliding-Spool Valve
Original scientific paper The necessary forces for the control of a hydraulic sliding-spool valve are normally determined by the stationary axial momentum forces of the oil flow through a valve. These forces increase with an increase in the volume flow and the pressure difference. Because of the limited actuating-force potential of normal electromechanical actuators, the direct actuation of con...
متن کاملTranslational friction coefficient of a permeable cylinder in a sheet of viscous fluid ?
We calculate the translational friction coefficient and the translational diffusion coefficient of a permeable cylinder moving in a sheet of fluid which is embedded on both sides in a fluid of much lower viscosity. The result, which is an asymptotic expression valid in the limit of small ratios of the viscosities, is derived by the method of matched asymptotic expansions.
